Shepherds’ Play in Saltburn
The play went really well on Saturday in Saltburn’s Community Theatre. This was a new venue and a new audience and so the format might have been a bit of a surprise to some but the play was very well received. Thanks to Julie for doing all the hard work arranging this.

Phoenix Update:
(sent in by Stacey Darell)
The Phoenix Project (a Steiner based educational project for adolescents aged 14 to 16) is getting all geared up for its start in York in September 2008. A core teacher has joined the project and curriculum development is underway. Fundraising has begun with the launching of the Friends of Phoenix, grant writing is progressing and there are some interesting and hopeful leads on premises. There will be a meeting, open to all, on December 6, 2007 in the Meeting Room at York Steiner School, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This meeting will focus on policies. If you have any questions or need more information please contact Jacky Miles (01904 431465) or Susan Peters Corbett (01904 656864).
Become a Friend of Phoenix
The Phoenix Project is an initiative started by parents of children in the present York Steiner School to develop schooling for adolescents aged 14-16. Although a Steiner-based endeavour, it will of course differ from the present Steiner School. It will be more appropriate for teenagers. It will be based on research conducted by members of the Phoenix Project into other successful post-14 projects around the country.
There WILL be a class starting in September 2008 but for The Phoenix Project to start strongly, be sustainable, and be affordable to most, we need support now. With support we can make long-term plans and demonstrate to charities and funding agencies that we have enough community interest to be worth their investments.
Support this endeavour by becoming a “Friend” or more:
**Yearly “Friend” membership for a family £25.00 (the equivalent of 50p a week)
**Be an “Upstart”, give a start-up gift of £50.00 (less than £1 a week for a year)
**Become a “Sentinel” for a year £100.00 (only £2 a week)
**Become a “Guardian” of Phoenix £250 per year for 4 years (then we know we have something to count on)
**Be “idiosyncratic” and give a gift that suits you--either big or small, it will be very welcome.
If you wish to become a “Friend” please fill in the form on the reverse side. We will keep you updated on the progress of the project and related issues.
Thank you.
Whether or not you become a “Friend” at this time, please spread the word about The Phoenix Project and let us know about resources or people who might be interested.
