ST JOHNS TIDE
Mid-summer’s
day, June 24th the birthday of John the Baptist. We
will soon stand at the centre point of the year, 6
months before Christmas. Prepare yourselves, shake
yourselves down, wake up and focus, perhaps imagine
that St John is about to arrive with his tongue of
fire to cleanse. What we have built up over the year,
with our actions and thoughts, which of course has
its effect on everything around us, will now provide
the basis of our reflection on the year passing away
and the springboard into the next. So let us
celebrate summer and change our thinking with our own
inner, purifying, St Johns fire.

Dear Parents & Friends, This year
the Botton Choir and a group of musicians – including
past pupils (and a past teacher!) – will give a
concert in the evening on Tuesday, St Johns Day, 24
June. Dress rehearsal starts 3pm. Claire &
Soleira warmly welcome you to this!

End
of Term Festivals
You’re
warmly invited to our final End of Term Festival of
the school year. This will be a farewell to Class 7/8
and some of our families, as well as an opportunity
to see plays performed by Classes 1/2 and 3/4. The
orchestra of Class 5/6 and 7/8 will also perform.
Please do come and sing our way into the summer
holiday!
The school End of Term Festival starts 2pm on
Thursday 10 July in the School Hall, and the End of
Term Festival and Leaving Ceremony of the
Kindergarten starts 11am on Friday 11 July.

Minutes from the last Co ordinators meeting
Guisborough Market Stall
A big thank you to all of you who baked cakes for the market stall on Saturday 14 June. They all looked beautiful. Whoever baked the gorgeous looking coffee & walnut cakes; I wanted you to know that we sold them before we’d even finished setting up!! The market was quieter than last year. Maybe the rain put people off, and there were very few young families. However the day went well, and made over £120. A heartfelt thank you to Katherine Shaw for committing to the whole day to help me, and to Fee for giving us an hour off so we could have a free lunch sampling the delights at the French market!! One thing we noticed was how popular the circular cakes, small cakes and scones were, but for some reason people didn’t seem to be buying larger rectangular cakes. We tried selling them by the slice, offered to cut them in half and various other tricks, but were left with quite a few. These have been saved for Open Day. Just something to ponder over for next year!!!

Meeting times
I am currently conducting a survey asking parents their personal preferred time for meetings. If I have not contacted you yet, don’t worry, I will. So far I have about 5 different times. I suspect there is probably only one solution: for parents who cannot attend a meeting (be it afternoon or evening) could we maybe offer our a) support b) understanding c) non-judgement

Summer Fayre (Open Day).
The time is flying and it is only 2 weeks until the Summer Fayre (Open Day). There is still time to bake very tasty cakes and create a wonderful stall for Home Produce. This year only the school will have a Home Produce Stall, let’s make it big and bountiful!
Here is our new rota after some changes and cancellations. If you are not clear on your place or time, please speak with the underlined persons!

Everybody will need to stay to help everybody else to
clear up EVERYTHING – then it will not take so long!
We will be very glad to welcome additional people to
the final sweep around following the clearing up.

Inserting
Thank you
to everyone who took part in the very speedy letter
inserting day earlier in June. Also, a big Thank You
to the Grimshaws and all those class 7/8 parents who
are leaving the school this summer for all their
sterling work over the years. You can breath a sigh
of disappointment when you realise you are not on the
following rota for September. For the rest of
us .... please do put the following dates in
your diary now as the next session is pretty
soon after term starts. Any problems with the
rota - please organize swaps now so that we are
raring to go when the new school year starts.

Would underlined families please remind the rest of
their team a few days in advance.
